We Are Independent

We are not affiliated with any single supplier. Our job is to represent your interests, not to push a particular product. That independence means our recommendations are based entirely on what makes sense for your business, including your usage, your budget, and your risk tolerance. Learn more about how we work.

We Know the Fine Print

The cheapest advertised rate is not always the cheapest option. Many suppliers quote a low base rate but do not disclose capacity charges, transmission costs, renewable fees, or taxes. Just because it's not quoted, that doesn't mean it won't be on your bill. It will be. We know what to look for and how to compare quotes on a true apples-to-apples basis.

How Energy Is Purchased

Electricity is sold by kilowatt-hour (kWh). Natural gas is sold by the therm. Within those units, there are several ways to structure a purchase.

At the most basic level, every energy bill has two parts:

Supply Charges
The cost of electricity or natural gas you consume.
Delivery Charges
The cost of having energy transported to your building by the local utility.

Our work focuses entirely on the supply side. We analyze your current supply rates, shop the market on your behalf, and make sure you are buying energy at the right price, from a reliable supplier.

Contract Options Explained

Fixed Rate

You lock in a set price per kWh or therm for a defined period, typically 12 to 60 months.

Fully Fixed Rate

Your supply cost does not change regardless of what happens in the wholesale market. If market prices rise, you are protected. If they fall, you stay at your locked rate.

Partially Fixed (Fixed Adjusted) Rate

This fixes all the components except transmission and capacity. Every year, there will be an adjustment up or down. Those two components are billed off your capacity and transmission tags, which are set by how much power your account is drawing during a small number of system peak hours. If your tags come down, you will likely get a credit. If they go up, your account will be charged more.

Variable / Index Rate

Your rate moves with wholesale market conditions. There is potential for savings when markets drop, but also exposure to spikes. This option is better suited to businesses with a high tolerance for price swings and active market monitoring.

Block and Index

This is where a fixed "block" of your expected usage is purchased at a locked price, while the remainder floats with the market. Block and Index gives you partial budget protection while maintaining some upside if market prices decline.

Time of Use (On-Peak / Off-Peak)

In some markets and for larger accounts, rates can be structured based on when energy is consumed. On-peak hours, typically business hours on weekdays, carry a higher rate, while off-peak hours are priced lower. Businesses with flexibility in their operations can reduce costs by shifting consumption away from peak periods.

Energy Purchasing Strategy

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to buying energy. We build a procurement strategy that fits your needs, based on:

  1. 1Your usage patterns and load profile
  2. 2Your risk tolerance and how much price exposure you are comfortable with
  3. 3Your budget goals and the need for price stability
  4. 4The length of contract that makes sense for your business

Competitive Supplier Bidding

We maintain working relationships with multiple licensed energy suppliers across every deregulated market we serve. See our supplier panel. We get suppliers to compete for your business, and they can't play games and alter the language which can affect the final rate.

Ongoing Market Advisory

Energy procurement is not a one-time decision. Markets move, contracts expire, and regulations change. We stay engaged with our clients over time. We alert you when favorable pricing windows open and help with contract renewal.
